HISTORY OF ATULYA ARCHITECTS

Atulya Architects was established on 8th June 1985 at Southern Shopping Complex, Veliyannur, Thrissur. The office was inaugurated by former Chief Minister of Kerala Late Sri.C. Achuta Menon.The firm then had an humble beginning as a two member team. It was a dream come true for Proprietor Architect Jeff Antony, as starting an architectural consultancy venture was always at the back of his mind. In 1977 he acquired a Bachelor's Degree in Architecture and the very next year joined Johnson and Mustafa, Architects, Madras as Architectural Apprentice.

In early 80's he went abroad and joined Anthony B. Almeida, RIBA, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania as an Assistant Architect. In 1982 he joined National Estates and Designing Co.Ltd Tanzania as a Grade I Architect and during his career there handled some major projects like Vocational Training Centre, Mbeya and Head Quarters Building for Tanzania Peoples Defense Forces, Tanzania.It was during this time that the first seeds of an idea about starting a firm at his home country got planted in his mind. Being a lover of traditions he selected a native word 'Athulya' , which means Excellence, as the name for his venture. In 1984 he came back to India and started the firm with the name, which he selected while he was abroad.

The firm started off catering to residential projects and the big break came when it was selected as the winner in a limited architectural design competition for 'SOS CHILDRENS VILLAGE, Cochin'. This project acted as a catalyst for all the successes the firm has later achieved, as it gave confidence and recognition. The name of the firm got spread as this project was covered by "Indian Architect + Builder", a leading Architectural Magazine.This project led our way to other big architectural projects.In 2000 our office got shifted to a new own spacious building at Mission Quarters, Thrissur and this office was inaugurated by Padmashri, Prof.O.N.V.Kurup on 13th March.

Now after 20 + years our portfolio is packed with big names. During this period we won a lot of Architectural competitions which has added a lot to our recognition and experience.Led by Architect Jeff Antony, Atulya Architects now comprises of an experienced team of Architects, Engineers, Site Supervisors, Draughts Men and various consultants and the firm now caters to all kind of architectural ventures.
